It’s a splendid two hours that I would absolutely spend time and time again just to spend more time with Dex and Mosscap. The truly marvelous accomplishment this novel has is being so delightful in itself that it’s almost as if reading this was like drinking tea with a tea monk. The time spent at each place in the novel is never overstayed, for the story moves at such a lovely and calming pace. We are “allowed to just live.”Ĭhambers creates such an enticing and magical world here, and I absolutely loved every second of it. Yet, Mosscap, a robot, reminds Sibling Dex that we don’t owe the world anything besides our existence. We tirelessly search for some purpose to give ourselves the honor we think we need to feel fulfilled. This novel is a masterful reflection on why we humans do what we do, every single day.
